It is something in the dogs eye that helps with their night vision and is reflective. As with humans, there are variances in the color of their retinas. Brutus' eyes go blue in the flash, ...Hmmmmm....<br />Brutus' eyes go blue in the flash, but my JR terrier's go green. The color just comes from the flash reflecting off the retina (back of the eye). I'd think a dog retina is a dog retina. Maybe the difference comes from the shape/size/prominence of the eyes, as that certainly varies breed to breed...
